    • J 22794 Spark Plug Port Adapter
    • J 38606 Valve Spring Compressor

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 14824  Size: SH
  1. Remove the spark plugs. Refer to Spark Plug Replacement in Engine Controls - 6.0L.
  2. Remove the valve rocker arm and pushrod assembly. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 310140  Size: SH
  4. Install the J 22794 in the spark plug hole.
  5. Attach an air hose to the J 22794 .
  6. Apply compressed air into the cylinder being serviced.

  7. Object Number: 218211  Size: SH

    Important:  It maybe necessary to lightly tap the valve spring retainer with a hard rubber mallet to loosen the valve keys.

  8. Using the J 38606 , compress the valve spring.
  9. Using a magnet or equivalent, remove the valve keys.
  10. Remove the J 38606 .

  11. Object Number: 1503529  Size: SH
  12. Remove the retainer (2), valve spring (3), valve seal, and shim (4).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1503529  Size: SH
  1. Apply a small amount of clean grease to the tip of the valve.
  2. Install the valve and shim (4).
  3. Using the J 38606 , compress the valve spring (3) and retainer (2).
  4. Install the valve spring assembly.
  5. Apply a small amount clean grease in the grooves for the valve keys.
  6. Using a small magnet or equivalent, install the keys.

  7. Object Number: 218211  Size: SH

    Important: Ensure that the valve keys are properly seated before releasing the special tool.

  8. Remove the J 38606 from the valve assembly.

  9. Object Number: 65039  Size: SH
  10. Remove the J 22794 .

  11. Object Number: 14824  Size: SH
  12. Install the spark plugs. Refer to Spark Plug Replacement in Engine Controls - 6.0L.
  13. Install the valve rocker arm and pushrod assembly. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement .
