Front Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1286888  Size: SH
  1. Cycle the folding top stowage compartment lid open.
  2. Stop the cycle when the folding top is fully retracted into the stowage compartment area.

  3. Object Number: 1296371  Size: SH
  4. Using the J 38778 , remove the weatherstrip attaching retainers.
  5. Remove the weatherstrip from the vehicle.

Front Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1296400  Size: SH
  1. Align the weatherstrip to the stowage compartment extension panel.
  2. Install the weatherstrip attaching retainers.
  3. Push firmly on the weatherstrip retainers to fully seat the attaching retainers.
  4. Cycle the folding top closed.

Rear Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the extension panel from the vehicle. Refer to Folding Top Stowage Compartment Lid Extension Panel Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 1296367  Size: SH
  3. Heat the extension lid panel using a heat gun. Hold the heat gun approximately 152 mm (6 in) from the surface. Apply the heat in a circular motion for about 30 seconds.

  4. Object Number: 1296281  Size: SH
  5. Pull upward to remove the weatherstrip from the extension panel.
  6. Remove all adhesive from the extension panel using Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) naptha.

Rear Installation Procedure

  1. Ensure the painted surface of the extension panel is clean and dry.
  2. Warm the extension panel with a heat lamp or heat gun to a minimum of 21°C (70°F).

  3. Object Number: 1296276  Size: SH
  4. Align the weatherstrip to the extension panel.
  5. Important: Do not touch the adhesive backing.

  6. Pull the backing from the weatherstrip.
  7. Press the weatherstrip to the extension panel.
  8. Hand roll the weatherstrip to the extension panel in order to ensure proper adhesion.
  9. Install the extension panel to the vehicle. Refer to Folding Top Stowage Compartment Lid Extension Panel Replacement .
  10. Inspect the folding top for proper operation. Refer to Power Folding Top Description and Operation .
