J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  3. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) support. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Support Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  4. Remove the defroster duct. Refer to Windshield Defroster Duct Replacement .
  5. Remove the air outlet ducts. Refer to Instrument Panel Air Outlet Ducts Replacement .
  6. Remove the air distributor duct. Refer to Air Distributor Duct Replacement .

  7. Object Number: 1489855  Size: SH
  8. Disconnect the electrical connections for the blower motor (1) and the actuators (2).
  9. Remove the HVAC module nuts and bolts from the mounting points.
  10. Remove the HVAC module assembly (4) from the I/P retainer.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1489855  Size: SH
  1. If replacing the HVAC module assembly, transfer the components from the old HVAC module assembly as necessary.
  2. Install the HVAC module assembly (4) to the I/P retainer.
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the retaining bolts and nuts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 8 N·m (70 lb in).

  6. Reconnect the electrical connections for the blower motor (1) and the actuators (2).
  7. Install the air distributor duct. Refer to Air Distributor Duct Replacement .
  8. Install the air outlet ducts. Refer to Instrument Panel Air Outlet Ducts Replacement .
  9. Install the defroster duct. Refer to Windshield Defroster Duct Replacement .
  10. Install the I/P support. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Support Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  11. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  12. Leak test the fittings using J 39400-A .
  13. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
