Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 687432  Size: SH
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Remove the outer tie rod retaining nut.

  4. Object Number: 643351  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle using the J 24319-B .

  6. Object Number: 731562  Size: SH
  7. Remove the stabilizer shaft link lower retaining nut.
  8. Disconnect the stabilizer shaft link and washer from the lower control arm.

  9. Object Number: 744328  Size: SH
  10. Remove the shock module yoke lower mounting nut.

  11. Object Number: 743091  Size: SH
  12. Disconnect the shock module yoke from the lower control arm using the J 24319-B .

  13. Object Number: 742730  Size: SH
  14. Remove the lower ball joint retaining nut.

  15. Object Number: 752181  Size: SH
  16. Disconnect the lower ball joint from steering knuckle using the J 43631 .

  17. Object Number: 1685565  Size: SH
  18. Remove the lower control arm to lower control arm bracket mounting nuts.
  19. Important: Note the direction the bolts are removed for installation.

  20. Remove the lower control arm to lower control arm bracket mounting bolts.
  21. Important: Take care not to disengage the axle shaft from the transmission (4WD only).

  22. Pivot the lower control arm outward and downward in order to disconnect the lower control arm from the lower control arm bracket.
  23. Important: Ensure that the spacer stays in position on the front control arm bracket front bushing.

  24. Remove the lower control arm from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Important: Take care not to disengage the axle shaft from the transmission.


    Object Number: 1685565  Size: SH
  1. Position the lower control arm ball joint stud to the steering knuckle.
  2. Important: Ensure that the spacer stays in position on the front control arm bracket front bushing.

  3. Pivot the lower control arm outward and upward in order to connect the lower control arm to the lower control arm bracket.
  4. Install the lower control arm to lower control arm bracket mounting bolts.
  5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

    Important: Ensure that the lower control arm is parallel to the lower control arm bracket during the installation and tightening of the lower control arm mounting bolts and nuts. This will ensure correct alignment of the lower control arm bushings.

  6. Install the lower control arm to lower control arm bracket mounting nuts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 130 N·m (96 lb ft).

  8. Connect the shock module yoke to the lower control arm.

  9. Object Number: 744328  Size: SH
  10. Install the shock module yoke lower mounting nut.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 110 N·m (81 lb ft).

  12. Install the lower ball joint retaining nut.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 110 N·m (81 lb ft).


    Object Number: 731562  Size: SH

    Important: There is a washer between the stabilizer shaft link and the lower control arm made of hardened steel and has a felt inner liner. Only replace this washer with an identical washer. Standard washers should not be used.

  14. Install the stabilizer shaft link and washer to the lower control arm.
  15. Install the stabilizer shaft link retaining nut.
  16. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 155 N·m (114 lb ft).

  17. Install the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle.
  18. Install the outer tie rod retaining nut.
  19. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

  20. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  21. Lower the vehicle.
  22. Inspect the front wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Specifications .
