Content Theft Does Not Turn Off with the Door Key - keywords alarm CTD deterrent door ignition key lock RKE

Subject:Content Theft Does Not Turn Off with the Door Key

Models:2003-2006 Chevrolet SSR

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

The Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) will not disarm when unlocking the door with the key. The owner's manual is incorrect and states "If you set off the alarm by accident, unlock any door with the key."

Recommendation/Instructions:

No repairs should be made. This is the normal operation of the Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) system. The only way to disarm the Content theft Deterrent (CTD) is to unlock the doors with the RKE or by putting the key in the ignition and starting the vehicle.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
