The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

The SIR lamp is on and a current DTC B1001, after replacing the BCM

Recommendation/Instructions:

After replacing the BCM, it is necessary to perform a theft deterrent/VTD relearn. Follow the instructions in SI for performing the 10 Minute Relearn Procedure. For 2005 and 2006 see SI Doc ID # 1415256, and for 2003 and 2004 see SI Doc ID # 651362 for Programming Theft Deterrent System Components. After performing the 10 minute relearn, clear all codes. If the B1001 still sets, use the TECH 2 and build this vehicle as a TRAILBLAZER EXT not an SSR. Once the vehicle is built on the Tech 2 select BCM/Special Functions then there is an option to Set up SDM serial number in BCM.

Follow the Procedures listed below:

  1. Use Tech 2 scan tool
  2. Select vehicle year
  3. Select LD Trk, MPV, Incomplete

  6. Select "TRAILBLAZER EXT"
  7. Select Body
  8. Select Body Control Module
  9. Select Special Functions
  10. Set up SDM serial number in BCM.
  11. Select BCM SETUP soft key.
  12. Erase and history codes.

Note: If the B1001 still sets, contact TCSC / Techline at 1-800-828-6860.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
