Removal Procedure

Left side shown, right side similar.

  1. Open the rear compartment lid.
  2. Lower the endgate.

  3. Object Number: 1273187  Size: SH
  4. Remove the lock cylinder latch plate cover. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Lock Cylinder Latch Plate Cover Replacement .
  5. Release the cable adjusters. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Latch Release Cable Adjustment .

  6. Object Number: 1273182  Size: SH
  7. Remove the left/right side rear compartment lid latch fasteners.

  8. Object Number: 1273183  Size: SH
  9. Pull the rear compartment lid latch away from the vehicle.

  10. Object Number: 1273184  Size: SH
  11. Disconnect the latch release cable from the rear compartment lid latch.
  12. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  13. Pull the latch release cable downward to disengage the cable from the body.

  14. Object Number: 1273186  Size: SH

    Important: Note the routing of the cable during the disassembly for reassembly.

  15. Disconnect the latch release cable (1) from the lock cylinder latch plate.
  16. Remove the latch cable from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Important: Route the cable the same way the original cable was routed for proper operation.

  1. Install the cable to the vehicle.

  2. Object Number: 1273186  Size: SH
  3. Connect the latch release cable (1) to the lock cylinder latch plate.
  4. Route the latch cable up to the latch.

  5. Object Number: 1273184  Size: SH
  6. Connect the latch cable to the rear compartment lid latch.

  7. Object Number: 1273183  Size: SH
  8. Install the rear compartment lid latch to the body.
  9. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1273182  Size: SH
  10. Install the rear compartment lid latch fasteners.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the lid latch fasteners to 10 N·m (88 lb in).

  12. Set the latch cable adjustment. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Latch Release Cable Adjustment .
  13. Install the lock cylinder latch plate cover. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Lock Cylinder Latch Plate Cover Replacement .
  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Close the rear compartment lid.
  16. Close the endgate.
