Removal Procedure

  1. Open the rear compartment lid.
  2. Lower the endgate.
  3. Heat the endgate side mucket using a J 25070 . Hold the heat gun approximately 152 mm (6 in) from the surface. Apply heat using a circular motion for about 30 seconds.
  4. Important: Be careful not to scratch or chip the paint.

  5. Using the J 36796 , carefully pull the retainers out of the endgate.

  7. Remove the endgate side mucket from the vehicle.
  8. Clean the endgate panel using Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) naphtha.

Installation Procedure

  1. Ensure that the painted body surface in the tape contact area is clean and dry.
  2. Warm the body panel with a heat lamp or heat gun, if necessary, to 18.8-41.1°C (66-100°F).
  3. Important: DO NOT touch the adhesive surface.

  4. Remove the tape liner from the adhesive tape.

  6. Ensure that the endgate mucket is aligned with the endgate panel. Press the endgate mucket to the endgate panel.
  7. Hand-roll the endgate mucket to the endgate panel to ensure proper adhesion.
  8. Close the rear compartment lid.
  9. Close the endgate.
