J 36796 Clip Zip Clip Removal Tool

1. Open the door.
2. Remove the door sill plate. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement in Interior Trim.



3. Remove the rocker panel door sill retainers using the J 36796 .
4. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
5. Remove the rear wheel and tire. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
6. Remove the rear wheelhouse liner. Refer to Rear Wheelhouse Panel Liner Replacement in Body Rear End.



7. Remove the rocker panel fasteners.
8. Using the J 36796 , release the lower rocker retainers from the body.
9. Use a heat gun to remove the stone guard. Hold the heat gun approximately 152 mm (6 in) from the surface. Apply heat using a circular motion for about 30 seconds.



10. Remove the rear rocker panel from the vehicle.

1. Install the rear rocker panel to the vehicle.
2. Push upward to seat the rear rocker panel fasteners.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.




3. Install the rocker panel fasteners.

Tighten
Tighten the rocker panel fasteners to 6 N·m (53 lb in).




4. Install the rear wheelhouse liner. Refer to Rear Wheelhouse Panel Liner Replacement in Body Rear End.
5. Install the rear wheel and tire. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Install the rocker panel door sill retainers.
8. Install the door sill plate. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement in Interior Trim.
9. Close the door.
