Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1286888 Size: SH
  1. Cycle the stowage compartment lid open.
  2. Stop the cycle when the stowage compartment lid extension panel is fully contacting the stowage compartment lid.
  3. Place a protective cover on the quarter panels.

    4. Object Number: 1300065 Size: SH
  4. Gently pry up on the upper retaining clip in order to remove the hydraulic cylinder from the upper ball stud on the stowage compartment lid hinge.

    5. Object Number: 1300063 Size: SH
  5. Gently pry up on the lower retaining clip in order to remove the hydraulic cylinder from the lower ball stud on the stowage compartment lid hinge.
  6. Place the hydraulic cylinder in a catch pan to catch any loss of fluid.

Disassembly Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Cylinder Hoses Notice in the Preface section.

    Important: Once the cylinder hose of the port plug has been removed, DO NOT move the cylinder rod. Moving the cylinder rod will cause fluid to squirt out of the ports.

  1. Ensure that the ignition switch is in the OFF position and that the folding top has not been operated under power for at least 6 minutes.

    2. Object Number: 1226132 Size: SH

    Important: Before disconnecting the cylinder hoses, have the replacement cylinder ready.

  2. Using a flat-bladed tool, release the retainer clips (1) from one of the cylinder hoses.
  3. Remove the cylinder hose retainer clips.

  4. Remove the cylinder hose (1). Use a clean shop towel to control any hydraulic fluid leakage.

    5. Object Number: 1226143 Size: SH
  5. Remove the cylinder hose O-ring.
  6. Using a small flat-bladed tool, release one of the port plug retainer clips from the replacement cylinder.
  7. Remove the retainer clips from the replacement cylinder.

    8. Important: Replacement cylinders are prefilled with fluid. DO NOT remove the port plug from the cylinder until you are ready to connect the cylinder hose.

  8. Remove the port plug from the replacement cylinder.
  9. Remove the port plug O-ring (1) from the replacement cylinder.

Assembly Procedure

    Object Number: 1226145 Size: SH
  1. Install a new O-ring (2) onto the cylinder hose (1).
  2. Install the hose into the cylinder port (3). Press down on the hose until the hose is fully seated in the cylinder.

    3. Object Number: 1226152 Size: SH
  3. Install the cylinder hose retainer clip (1). Inspect the retainer clip to ensure that the clip is fully seated around the hose (2).
  4. Repeat this procedure for the other hose.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1226145 Size: SH
  1. Install the hydraulic hose retainer clip.

    2. Object Number: 1300065 Size: SH
  2. Push on the lower end of the hydraulic cylinder on the lower ball stud on the stowage compartment lid hinge. Install the retaining clip.
  3. Push on the upper end of the hydraulic cylinder on the upper ball stud on the stowage compartment lid hinge. Install the retaining clip.
  4. Remove the protective covers from the quarter panels.
  5. Bleed the hydraulic system of air by using the control button to cycle the folding top 5 times, while continuously inspecting for proper operation.
  6. Inspect the hydraulic system for any oil leaks.
  7. Inspect the fluid level and add fluid as needed. Refer to Folding Top Fluid Addition .
  8. Cycle the stowage compartment lid closed.
  9. Inspect the folding top for proper operation. Refer to Power Folding Top Description and Operation .
