This PI was superceded to add 2009 model year. Please discard PIT4551.


The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

During the PDI it may be noticed that the back up alarm is inoperative. On trucks equipped with the Back Up Alarm option RPO 8S3, the alarm will be intentionally left disconnected from the assembly plant.

Recommendation/Instructions:

During the PDI, the back up alarm will need to be connected. The alarm is located on the right rear of the frame, and the chassis harness alarm connector is located on the left rear of the frame. Route the harness up and over the spare tire hoist tube and connect to the back up alarm.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
