For 1990-2009 cars only
- Remove the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) screw.
- Remove the VSS.
- Remove the main shaft nut.
- Remove the main shaft nut from the main shaft.
- Remove the rear cover bolts.
- Remove the rear cover.
- Remove the bolts from the bearing retainer.
- Remove the bearing retainer.
- Remove the yoke spacer.
- Remove the speedometer tracking balls.
- Remove the speedometer gear.
- Remove the roll pin.
- Using locking pliers, remove the snap ring.
- Remove the synchronizer ring and the 5th gear.
- Remove the 5th gear synchronizer and the fork.
- Remove the 2 roller bearings and the spacer.
- Remove the washer.
- Remove the bearing retainer bolts.
- Remove the bearing retainer.
- Remove the drive shaft.
- Remove the tapered bearing cup.
- Remove the main shaft assembly.
- Remove the retaining oil seal.
- Remove the extension housing oil seal.
- Remove the bearing snap ring from the extension housing, if equipped.
- Remove the bearing from the extension housing, if equipped.
