For 1990-2009 cars only
- Using a driving tool, install the bearing.
- Install the gear assembly.
- Install the bearing and the gear assembly bearing race.
- Install the 2 caged gears, with the rollers and spacer, into the reverse gear.
- Install the reverse gear into the case.
- Install the reverse gear shaft.
- Install the adjusting spacers and the rear bearing retainer.
- Install the 4 rear retaining screws.
- Turn the gear assembly in order to seat the bearings against the tracks.
- Install a dial indicator and lift the gear assembly with a screwdriver in order to measure the axial play. Add spacers for more play and remove spacers for less play.
- Install the reverse and 5th gear lever.
Specification
The axial play should be 0.025-0.127 mm (0.001-0.005 in).
