Preliminary Procedures

1. Remove the control lever and boot. Refer to Transmission Control Lever Boot Replacement.
2. Remove the transmission support. Refer to Transmission Support Crossmember Replacement.
3. Lower the transmission slightly to access the insulator.
4. Cut and remove the insulator.
5. Shift the transmission to neutral.

Transmission Control Bolt (Qty: 4)

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

Tip
Remove ONLY the exposed bolts at the base of the lever.

Tighten:
11 N·m (97 lb in)

Tip
Do not disassemble the transmission shift lever. Internal parts for this shift lever are not available.

Transmission Control Spacer

Procedure

Apply sealer GM P/N 12345739 (Canadian P/N 10953541) to the shift cover side of the shift tower spacer.
