Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1874253  Size: SH

    Warning: To avoid being burned, do not remove the radiator cap or surge tank cap while the engine is hot. The cooling system will release scalding fluid and steam under pressure if radiator cap or surge tank cap is removed while the engine and radiator are still hot.

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
  2. Reposition the EGR cooler pipe clamp (1) and remove the EGR cooler pipe hose from the EGR cooler tube.

  4. Remove the upper EGR cooler pipe nut (1).

  5. Object Number: 1874265  Size: SH
  6. Remove the lower EGR cooler pipe bolt (1).
  7. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.

  8. Object Number: 1864697  Size: SH
  9. Remove the EGR cooler pipe bolt (1) and bracket (2).
  10. Remove the EGR cooler pipe from the engine.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1864697  Size: SH
  1. Position the EGR cooler pipe to the engine.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the EGR cooler pipe bracket (2) and bolt (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  5. Lower the vehicle.
  6. Install the lower EGR cooler pipe bolt (1).

  7. Object Number: 1874255  Size: SH
  8. Install the upper EGR cooler pipe nut (1).
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  10. Install the EGR cooler pipe hose to the EGR cooler tube and reposition the EGR cooler pipe clamp (1).
  11. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
