For 1990-2009 cars only
- Install the axial bearing.
- Install the input shaft thrust bearing.
- Install the input shaft synchronizer ring.
- Install the input shaft.
- Install the primary shaft arrangement.
- Inspect the axial play of the reverse gear.
- Inspect the axial play of the 1st speed gear.
- Inspect the axial play of the 2nd speed gear.
- Inspect the axial play of the 3rd speed gear. There are 4 retainer thicknesses to select from.
- Install the gear train assembly.
- Once the primary shaft assembly axial plays have been inspected, install the primary shaft assembly in the casing.
- Install the transmission casing.
- Using a 10 mm wrench, install the bolts that secure the casing.
- Install the bearing cone.
- Install the gear train taper bearing cup.
- Using retainer pliers, install the retainer that secures the gear train bearing cup.
- Inspect the axial play of the gear train.
- Install the drive wheel.
- Install the drag ball.
- Install the gear train 5th gear synchronizer assembly and inspect the axial play. The retainer is optional.
- Clean the surface and apply sealant.
- Tighten the 7 screws to 16-27 N·m (12-20 lb ft).
