DEFINITION: The CTD system will not ARM or DISARM properly.

Did you perform the Theft Deterrent Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Step 2

Important: When the CTD system is armed, the vehicle will confirm by chirping the alarm and flashing the turn signals once.

  1. Open the driver and passenger windows.
  2. Remove the keys from the ignition.
  3. Close all the doors, rear compartment and the hood.
  4. Lock the doors with the transmitter. (Arm the system.)

Did the CTD system arm?

Go to Step 3

Important: When the CTD system is disarmed, the vehicle will confirm by flashing the turn signals twice.

With the system still armed, unlock a door with the key fob.

Does the CTD system disarm?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

  1. Switch the dome lamp to the center position (DOOR).
  2. Unlock the doors with the transmitter.
  3. Observe the courtesy lamps.
  4. Open and close each door and rear compartment lid.

Do the courtesy lamps illuminate for all doors and rear compartment?

  1. Disconnect the hood switch.
  2. Connect a 3-A fused jumper across the hood switch terminal.
  3. Attempt to arm the CTD system.

Does the CTD system arm?

Go to Step 7

  1. Test for an open or high resistance in the hood switch signal circuit. Refer to Testing for Continuity and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
  2. Test for an open or high resistance in the hood switch ground signal circuit.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 11

Test for a poor connection at the hood switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test for a poor connection at the RCDLR. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the RCDLR. Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement in Keyless Entry.

Did you complete the replacement?

Replace the hood switch.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
