Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1282383  Size: SH
  1. Remove the brake drum. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement .
  2. Caution: Keep fingers away from rear brake shoe springs to prevent fingers from being pinched between spring and shoe web or spring and backing plate.

  3. Remove the upper return spring (2).
  4. Remove the upper return spring bracket (1).
  5. Remove the lower return spring (3).

  7. Remove the adjust lever (1).
  8. Remove the middle return spring (2).
  9. Caution: Refer to Brake Dust Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1282385  Size: SH
  10. Remove the readjusting unit (2).
  11. Turn the brake shoe retaining spring pin rectangularly by the pliers (3).
  12. Remove the brake shoe retain spring cap (4).
  13. Remove the retaining spring (5).
  14. Remove the retaining spring pin (1).
  15. Remove the leading shoe (6).
  16. Remove the brake shoe.

  17. Object Number: 1282387  Size: SH
  18. Disconnect the parking brake cable from the trailing shoe and remove the trailing shoe (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1282388  Size: SH
  1. Install in the reverse of removal.
  2. Clean the adjust assembly and apply grease.
  3. Connect the parking brake cable from the trailing shoe.
  4. Install the brake shoe.
  5. Install the middle return spring and adjust lever.
  6. Install the lower return spring.
  7. Install the upper return spring bracket.
  8. Install the upper return spring.
  9. Install the brake drum. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement .
