Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Batteries Produce Explosive Gases Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1224503 Size: SH
  1. Remove the air hose, air cleaner to throttle body. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls-1.0L.
  2. Remove the battery.
  3. Remove the transaxle side select and shift control cable pins (1) and washers (2).
  4. Disconnect the select and shift control cable (3).
  5. Remove the cable E-rings (4).
  6. Disconnect the cables from the cable bracket.

  7. Remove the floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

    8. Object Number: 1223647 Size: SH
  8. Remove the gear shift lever side select control cable clip (7).
  9. Pry off the eye ring (5).
  10. Remove the select control cable E-ring (1).
  11. Disconnect the select control cable.
  12. Remove the shift control cable pin (4).
  13. Remove the shift control cable E-ring (2).
  14. Pry off the shift control cable (3).

  15. Remove the select and shift control cable nuts (1).
  16. Pull the cables out.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1223669 Size: SH
  1. Push the cables toward the engine compartment through the dash panel hole, slightly.

    2. Object Number: 1224503 Size: SH
  2. Connect the transaxle side select and shift control cable (3).
  3. Connect the gear shift lever side shift control cable.

    4. Object Number: 1223670 Size: SH
  4. Insert the gear shift select control cable eye ring to the select arm pin (3).
  5. Install the gear shift selector lever control cable clip (1).
  6. Install the gear shift select control cable to the gear shift lever bracket with E-ring (2).
  7. Insert a screwdriver to the select arm adjustment hole to prevent the movement of the gear shift lever in NEUTRAL (4).
  8. Connect the gear shift lever side select control cable.

    9. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  9. Install the floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  10. Tighten the adjust nuts.

    11. Tighten
    Tighten the gear shift select cable adjust nut to 8-12 N·m (71-106 lb in).

  11. Install the battery.
  12. Install the air hose air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls-1.0L.
