Removal Procedure
- Raise and support
the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in the General Information section.
Important: Catch the escaping fluid in a drain pan.
- Disconnect the return line pipe from the steering gear (1).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the nut (1).
- Disconnect the
return line pipe house (1).
- Plug the openings in the steering gear and the fluid reservoir to prevent
fluid loss and contamination.
Installation Procedure
- Raise and support
the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
Notice: Refer to Title not found in the Preface section.
- Connect the return line pipe fitting (1) to the steering gear.
Tighten
Tighten the return line pipe fitting to 21-35 N·m (16-26 lb ft).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Connect the return
line pipe hose with the clamp nut (1).
Tighten
Tighten the clamp nut to 7-9 N·m (62-80 lb in).
Notice: Refer to Power Steering Required Fluid Notice in the Preface section.
- Fill the fluid reservoir with power steering fluid.
- Inspect for leaks. If there are leaks, correct the cause of the leaks
and bleed the system. Refer to
Power Steering System Bleeding
