Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1224914 Size: SH
  1. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  2. Remove the turn signal switch and the wiper switch. Refer to Turn Signal Multifunction Switch Replacement .
  3. Remove the switch housing. Refer to Turn Signal Switch Housing Replacement .

  4. Remove the ignition switch. Refer to Ignition and Start Switch Replacement .
  5. Remove the ignition lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement .
  6. Match-mark on the intermediate shaft and the steering column shaft (1).
  7. Remove the intermediate shaft upper pinch bolt (2).
  8. Remove the steering column lower nuts (3).
  9. Remove the steering column upper nuts (1).
  10. Remove the steering column.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1224917 Size: SH

    Important: Align the match-mark on the intermediate shaft and the steering column shaft.

  1. Install the intermediate shaft upper pinch bolt (1).

    2. Tighten
    Tighten the pinch bolt to 21-29 N·m (16-22 lb ft).

  2. Install the steering column lower nuts (2).

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 15-20 N·m (11-15 lb ft).

  3. Install the steering column upper nuts (3).

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 15-20 N·m (11-15 lb ft).

  4. Install the steering column.

  5. Install the lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement .
  6. Install the ignition switch. Refer to Ignition and Start Switch Replacement .
  7. Install the switch housing. Refer to Turn Signal Switch Housing Replacement .
  8. Install the turn signal switch and the wiper switch. Refer to Turn Signal Multifunction Switch Replacement .
  9. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
