Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1220768 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Open the tailgate.
  3. Remove the tailgate lock cylinder. Refer to Liftgate Lock Cylinder Replacement in Doors.
  4. Remove the license plate lamps. Refer to Rear License Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  5. Remove the tailgate handle screws (2).
  6. Remove the tailgate handle (1).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1220771 Size: SH
  1. Install the tailgate handle with the screws.
  2. Install the license plate lamps. Refer to Rear License Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  3. Remove the tailgate lock cylinder. Refer to Liftgate Lock Cylinder Replacement in Doors.
  4. Connect the negative battery cable.
