Arming the System

Object Number: 1043396 Size: A3

If your vehicle has this feature and the ignition is off, pressing the transmitter Lock button will arm the system immediately after all doors and the liftgate are closed.

The hazard warning lamps will flash once and the horn will chirp to confirm that the system has been armed. The LED light (A), on the transmitter, will flash when the Lock button is pressed.

If the ignition is turned to ON or if the doors, the hood or the liftgate are opened, the theft deterrent system and the hazard warning lamps do not operate. However, the door lock function operates normally.

The theft deterrent system cannot be activated by locking the doors using the key. You need to use the transmitter to arm the system.

If you do not want to arm the system, lock the doors using the key.

Disarming the System

Unlock all of the doors by pressing the Unlock button on the transmitter. The hazard warning lamps will flash twice and the system will disarm. The LED light (A), on the transmitter, will flash when the Unlock button is pressed.

When the theft deterrent system is armed, use only the Unlock button on the transmitter to open the doors of your vehicle. The alarm will sound if you unlock the doors using the key or if you open the hood or the liftgate before disarming the system.

If the door is not opened or if the engine is not started within 30 seconds after unlocking the door with the transmitter, all of the doors will automatically lock and the theft deterrent mode will rearm.

How the System Alarm is Activated

If the system is armed, unlocking the doors without using the transmitter or opening the hood or the liftgate before disarming the system will cause the alarm to sound. The horn will chirp for about 30 seconds and the hazard warning lamps will flash.

How to Turn Off the System Alarm

If the system alarm is active, it can be deactivated by pressing any button on the transmitter.

How to Detect a Tamper Condition

When the Unlock button on the transmitter is pressed, the hazard warning lamps will flash to indicate information about the remote keyless entry and the theft deterrent system as follows:

Normal Condition

If there has not been an intrusion and no malfunction has been detected, the hazard warning lamps will flash twice for 0.5 second, with a 0.5 second pause between flashes.

Alarm Indication

If there has been an intrusion since the last time the Lock button was pressed, the hazard warning lamps will flash twice for 0.5 second, with a 1.5 second pause between flashes.

Alarm and malfunction information in the system will be erased the next time the system is armed with the remote keyless entry transmitter.

When the ignition is turned to ON, the hazard warning lamps will not flash.
