The toothed wheel speed ring generates a voltage pulse as it moves past the wheel speed sensor. Each tooth-gap-tooth series on the wheel generates the pulses. The electronic brake control module (EBCM) uses the frequency of these pulses to determine wheel speed. The voltage generated depends on the air gap between the wheel speed sensor and the toothed wheel, and on the wheel speed.
When the signal difference of the wheel speed sensor is above 20 percent during the high speed driving, the EBCM may make the fault code.

• | The unbalanced tire pressure. |
The warning lamp turns ON in a moment and OFF when the fault happens.
The antilock brake system (ABS) is operation and the proportioning is operation.

1 | Inspect the size of the tires. Are the results normal? | -- | Go to Step 3 | Go to Step 2 |
2 | Replace the tire with the correct size and brand. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels. Is the repair complete? | -- | System OK | -- |
3 | Inspect the air pressure of the tires. Is the air pressure within the specified value? | 145 kPa (21 psi) | Go to Step 8 | Go to Step 4 |
4 | Adjust the air pressure of the tire to the specified value. Is the repair complete? | 145 kPa (21 psi) | System OK | -- |

Important: Test drive the vehicle carefully because the ABS function does not work. Drive the vehicle straight at the constant speed of 130 km/h (81 mph). Is the result normal with all wheel speed value? | -- | Go to Step 8 | Go to Step 6 |
8 | Replace the EBCM. Is the repair complete? | -- | System OK | -- |
