Disassembly Procedure

    Object Number: 1221479 Size: SH
  1. Remove the drive axle. Refer to Front Drive Axle Inner Shaft Replacement
  2. Remove the boot clamps (1,2) on the joint boot.

    3. Object Number: 1221484 Size: SH
  3. Degrease the joint assembly.
  4. Widen the circlip (1).
  5. Remove the joint assembly while widening the circlip (2).

    6. Object Number: 1221251 Size: SH
  6. Remove the drive axle shaft boot.

Assembly Procedure

    Object Number: 1221477 Size: SH
  1. Install the drive axle shaft boot.
  2. Push the joint assembly towards the drive axle shaft in order to widen the circlip.
  3. Keep the circlip widened (1).
  4. Push the joint assembly to the drive axle shaft (2).

    5. Object Number: 1221482 Size: SH

    Notice: Always use the recommended grease. If not, the joint and boot can be damaged.

  5. Fill the joint housing with the recommended grease when installing.

    6. Capacity
    Grease capacity equals 80-90 g (2.8-3.2 oz).

    Important: Always use new clamps.

  6. Install the clamps on the joint boot (1, 2).
  7. Install the drive axle.

Inspection Procedure

    Object Number: 1221486 Size: SH
  1. Inspect the operation of the joint.

    2. Important: Do not disassemble the outer joint assembly. The parts are match fit and can not be serviced separately. Improper reassembly will adversely affect both performance and safety.

  2. Inspect for a leaking boot through the clamp side.
