Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in the Preface section.

    Notice: Avoid spilling brake fluid onto painted surfaces, electrical connections, wiring, or cables. Brake fluid will damage painted surfaces and cause corrosion to electrical components. If any brake fluid comes in contact with painted surfaces, immediately flush the area with water. If any brake fluid comes in contact with electrical connections, wiring, or cables, use a clean shop cloth to wipe away the fluid.

  1. Loosen the brake pipe fittings-to-proportioning valve (1).
  2. Remove the proportioning valve (2).
  3. Plug the opening in the proportioning valve and brake pipe fitting to prevent fluid loss or contamination.
  4. Remove the proportioning valve.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1282347  Size: SH
  1. Install the proportioning valve (1).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the proportioning valve to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  3. Install the brake pipe fitting (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the brake pipe fitting-to-proportioning valve to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  5. Bleed the brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .
