Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. If the vehicle is equipped with a supplemental inflatable restraints (SIR) system, disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  3. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module from the steering wheel. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement .
  4. Remove the steering wheel from the steering column. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  5. Remove the steering column trim cover. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .
  6. Remove the multifunction turn signal switch and the wiper switch. Refer to Turn Signal Multifunction Switch Replacement .
  7. Pry off the windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .

  8. Remove the instrument cluster trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement .

    9. Notice: The instrument panel (I/P) should be at room temperature before performing service. This will allow the I/P to be more pliable. To prevent the instrument panel damage, cover the flat bladed tool with a soft cloth.

  9. Remove the hood latch release handle from the instrument panel. Refer to Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Handle Replacement .
  10. Remove the glove box assembly from the instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement .
  11. If the vehicle is equipped with a inflatable restraint instrument panel module, remove it from the instrument panel. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement .
  12. Remove the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  13. Remove the defroster grilles. Refer to Defroster Grille Replacement .

  14. Remove the instrument cluster assembly. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  15. Remove the A/C controller from the instrument panel. Refer to Blower Switch Replacement .
  16. Remove the radio from the instrument panel. Refer to Radio Replacement .
  17. Remove the front speakers. Refer to Radio Front Speaker Replacement .
  18. Remove the power mirror switch, if equipped.
  19. Disconnect the cigar lighter connector.
  20. Disconnect the ashtray lamp, if equipped.

  21. Remove the bolts from the instrument panel assembly.
  22. Remove the instrument trim panel assembly from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Install the instrument trim panel assembly with the bolts.
  2. Connect the ashtray lamp, if equipped.
  3. Connect the cigar lighter connector.
  4. Install the front speakers. Refer to Radio Front Speaker Replacement .
  5. Install the radio to the instrument panel. Refer to Radio Replacement .
  6. Install the A/C controller to the instrument panel. Refer to Blower Switch Replacement .
  7. Install the instrument cluster assembly. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  8. Install the floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  9. Install the defroster grilles. Refer to Defroster Grille Replacement .
  10. Install the inflatable restraint instrument panel module to the instrument panel. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement .
  11. Install the glove box assembly to the instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement .
  12. Install the hood latch release handle to the instrument panel. Refer to Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Handle Replacement .
  13. Install the instrument cluster trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement .
  14. Install the windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  15. Install the multifunction turn signal switch and the wiper switch. Refer to Turn Signal Multifunction Switch Replacement .
  16. Install the steering column trim cover. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .
  17. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  18. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module to the steering wheel. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement .
  19. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  20. Connect the negative battery cable.
