Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1618489  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Discharge and recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  3. Remove the compressor A/C hoses connector block fitting nut.

  4. Object Number: 1618499  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  6. Remove the under cover.

  7. Object Number: 1618500  Size: SH
  8. Remove the A/C belt. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement.
  9. Remove the compressor to bracket upper mounting bolt.

  10. Object Number: 1618501  Size: SH
  11. Remove the compressor to bracket lower mounting bolts.
  12. Remove the compressor.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1618501  Size: SH
  1. Install the compressor.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the compressor to bracket lower mounting bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the compressor to bracket lower mounting bolts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  5. Install the compressor to bracket upper mounting bolt.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the compressor to bracket upper mounting bolt to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).


    Object Number: 1618499  Size: SH
  7. Install the under cover.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the A/C high pressure pipe line bolt to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).

  9. Connect the electrical connector at the compressor.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the A/C low pressure pipe line bolt to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).

  11. Install the A/C refrigerant suction hose and A/C refrigerant discharge hose to connector block retaining bolts.
  12. Tighten

        • Tighten the A/C refrigerant suction hose to connector block retaining bolt to 22.5 N·m (16.5 lb ft).
        • Tighten the A/C refrigerant discharge hose to connector block retaining bolt 22.5 N·m (16.5 lb ft).
  13. Install the A/C belt. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement.
  14. Connect the negative battery cable.
  15. Evacuate and charge the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
