Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.
Caution: Valve springs can be tightly compressed. Use care when removing the retainers
and plugs. Personal injury could result.
Caution: In order to avoid being burned, do not service the exhaust system while
it is still hot. Service the system when it is cool.
- Remove the cylinder head with the intake manifold and the exhaust
manifold attached. Refer to
Cylinder Head Replacement
.
- Remove the intake manifold main bracket bolts (2).
- Remove the intake manifold main bracket (1).
- Remove
the distributor and case bolts and nuts (1).
- Remove the distributor and case (2).
- Remove the gasket (3).
- Remove
the intake manifold nuts (2).
- Remove the intake manifold (1).
- Inspect the intake manifold gasket for cracks or damage.
- Remove
the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts (5).
- Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield (4).
- Remove the exhaust manifold bolts and nuts (1).
- Remove the exhaust manifold (2).
- Remove the exhaust manifold gasket (3).
- Inspect the exhaust manifold gasket for cracks or damage.
- Remove the spark plugs.
- Remove
the rocker arm bolts (1).
- Remove the rocker arm spring (4)
- Remove the rocker arm shaft (3).
- Remove the rocker arm (2).
Notice: Use extreme care when removing the camshaft not to nick, scratch, or damage
the camshaft lobes or bearing surfaces.
- Remove the camshaft screw (4).
- Remove the camshaft plate (3).
- Remove the camshaft (1).
- Remove the camshaft front oil seal from housing hole (2).
- Using
the EN 47518
(1) with
the 09915-64510
(2), compress
the valve springs (3).
- Remove the valve keepers (4).
- Remove
the valve spring retainer and valve springs (1).
- Remove the valves (2).
Important: Do not reuse the removed oil seals. And the removed oil seals should be replaced
by new one.
- Remove the valve stem oil seals (1).
- Remove the valve spring seat (2).
Important: The removed valve guide should be replaced by new one of oversized. Do not reuse
the removed valve guide.
- Position the EN 46571
on
the valve guide.
- Hammer and remove the valve guide from the combustion chamber to the direction
of the installed valve spring using the EN 46571
.
