Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1618470  Size: SH
  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  4. Remove the instrument panel carrier assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement .
  5. Compress the heater hose clamps and slide the clamps toward the engine.
  6. Remove the 2 heater hoses from the bulkhead.

  8. Remove the nuts that secure the A/C suction hose and liquid evaporator pipe connector block at the bulkhead.

  9. Object Number: 1618466  Size: SH
  10. From the engine side of the bulkhead, remove the screws that secure the heater/air distribution case assembly to the bulkhead.

  12. Remove the case condensation drain hose under the glove box.

  13. Object Number: 1618473  Size: SH
  14. Remove the heater/air distribution case assembly nuts.
  15. Remove the heater/air distribution case assembly from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1618472  Size: SH
  1. Install the heater/air distribution case assembly to the vehicle.
  2. Install the case condensation drain hose.
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the heater/air distribution case assembly nuts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the heater/air distribution case assembly nuts to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  6. Install the heater/air distribution case assembly screws.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the heater/air distribution case assembly screws to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  8. Install the A/C suction hose and liquid evaporator pipe onto the evaporator flange connector block and tighten the nuts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the evaporator pipe connecting block retaining nuts to 14 N·m (10 lb ft).

  10. Connect the 2 heater hoses to the heater core pipe.
  11. Slide the heater hose clamps into the position.
  12. Install the instrument panel carrier assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement .
  13. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  14. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  15. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
