Tools Required

J 45400 (09940-71430) Front Spring Compressor

1. Remove the strut assembly. Refer to Strut Assembly Replacement .



2. Compress the front spring using the J 45400 or the 09940-71430 (1).



3. Hold the strut support with a bench vise and remove the strut nut (1).



4. Remove the rebound stopper (3).
5. Remove the rebound stopper nut (4).
6. Remove the strut mount (5).
7. Remove the strut bearing (6).
8. Remove the coil spring upper seat (7).
9. Remove the coil spring upper insulator (8).
10. Remove the J 45400 or the 09940-71430.
11. Remove the coil spring (11).
12. Remove the bumper stopper (1).

1. Install the bumper stopper (1) to the strut.
2. Install the coil spring (11).
3. Compress the front spring using the J 45400 or the 09940-71430.
4. Install the coil spring upper insulator (8).
5. Install the coil spring upper seat (7).
6. Install the strut bearing (6).
7. Install the strut mount (5).
8. Install the rebound stopper nut (4).
9. Install the rebound stopper (3).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.




10. Hold the strut support with a bench vise. Install the strut nut (1).

Tighten
Tighten the strut nut to 55 N·m (40 lb ft).

11. Remove the J 45400 or the 09940-71430.



12. Inspect the installation of the coil spring (1, 2).
13. Install the strut assembly. Refer to Strut Assembly Replacement .
