Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1224948  Size: SH
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Important: Catch the escaping fluid in a drain pan.

  3. Disconnect the return line pipe from the steering gear (1).

  4. Object Number: 1224949  Size: SH
  5. Lower the vehicle.
  6. Remove the nut (1).

  7. Object Number: 1224951  Size: SH
  8. Disconnect the return line pipe house (1).
  9. Plug the openings in the steering gear and the fluid reservoir to prevent fluid loss and contamination.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1224953  Size: SH
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Connect the return line pipe fitting (1) to the steering gear.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the return line pipe fitting to 21-35 N·m (16-26 lb ft).

  5. Lower the vehicle.

  6. Object Number: 1224956  Size: SH
  7. Connect the return line pipe hose with the clamp nut (1).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the clamp nut to 7-9 N·m (62-80 lb in).

  9. Fill the fluid reservoir with power steering fluid.
  10. Inspect for leaks. If there are leaks, correct the cause of the leaks and bleed the system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
