For 1990-2009 cars only
Removal Procedure
- Remove the air cleaner/resonator assembly and air intake tube. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.
- Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
- Open the throttle valve.
- Disconnect the throttle cable, the throttle position sensor, and the idle air control valve connectors.
- Remove the throttle body bolts and nuts.
- Remove the throttle body from the intake manifold.
- Discard the throttle body gasket.
- Inspect the throttle body gasket for damages.
Installation Procedure
- Install the throttle body and tighten the bolts to 9-12 N·m (80-106 lb in).
- Connect the throttle cable, the throttle position sensor, and the idle air control valve connectors.
- Fill the engine with coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
- Install the air intake tube and the air cleaner/resonator assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
Note: Make sure the throttle control cable does not hold the throttle open. With the engine OFF, check to see that the accelerator pedal is free.
