Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1224832  Size: SH
  1. Remove the park brake lever. Refer to Parking Brake Lever Replacement.
  2. Remove the cable pulley (1).
  3. Loosen the adjustment nuts.
  4. Remove the strengthener (2).

  5. Object Number: 1616108  Size: SH
  6. Remove the cable grommet.
  7. Remove the rear brake drum assembly. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement.

  8. Object Number: 1224842  Size: SH
  9. Remove the clip (1) from the brake plate.
  10. Disconnect the park brake cable from the trailing shoe.

  11. Object Number: 1224845  Size: SH
  12. Remove the right rear clamp bolts (1) fastening the brake cable.
  13. Remove the fuel filter. If the vehicle has the 0.8L engine, refer to Fuel Filter Replacement. If the vehicle has the 1.0L engine, refer to Fuel Filter Replacement.

  14. Object Number: 1224834  Size: SH
  15. Remove the left rear clamp bolts (1) fastening the brake cable.
  16. Remove the park brake cable from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1224840  Size: SH
  1. Install the park brake cable with the right rear clamp bolts and the left rear clamp bolts (1). Tighten the park brake cable clamp bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
  2. Install the fuel filter. If the vehicle has the 0.8L engine, refer to Fuel Filter Replacement. If the vehicle has the 1.0L engine, refer to Fuel Filter Replacement.
  3. Connect the park brake cable to the rear brake drum assembly.
  4. Install the rear brake drum assembly. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement.
  5. Install the grommet and the strengthener.

  6. Object Number: 1224846  Size: SH
  7. Install the cable pulley with the adjustment nuts (1) and tighten the nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
  8. Install the park brake lever. Refer to Parking Brake Lever Replacement.
