Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1224931  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the pressure line pipe fitting from the outlet connection on the power steering pump (1).

  2. Object Number: 1224932  Size: SH
  3. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  4. Loosen the clamp nut of the pressure line pipe (1).

  5. Object Number: 1224934  Size: SH
  6. Loosen the clamp nut of the pressure line pipe (2).
  7. Loosen the coupling nut which is connected with the pressure line pipe (1).

  9. Loosen the clamp nut of the pressure line pipe (1).

  11. Disconnect the return line pipe fitting from the power steering gear (2).
  12. Disconnect the pressure line pipe from the power steering gear (1).
  13. Remove the power steering pump pressure line.
  14. Plug the openings in the power steering pump and the steering gear to prevent fluid loss and contamination.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering pump pressure line and the supply line.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Connect the pressure line inlet pipe to the steering gear with the fitting (1) and tighten to 21-35 N·m (16-26 lb ft).

  5. Connect the return line pipe to the steering gear (2) and tighten the return line pipe fitting to 21-35 N·m (16-26 lb ft).

  6. Object Number: 1224939  Size: SH
  7. Connect the pressure lines with couplings (2). Tighten the coupling which is connected with the pressure line pipe to 36-50 N·m (27-37 lb ft).

  8. Object Number: 1224941  Size: SH
  9. Connect the pressure line clamp nut, gear-side (1) and tighten to 7-9 N·m (62-80 lb in).

  10. Object Number: 1224942  Size: SH
  11. Connect the pressure line clamp nut, pump-side (1) and tighten to 7-9 N·m (62-80 lb ft).

  12. Object Number: 1224945  Size: SH
  13. Connect the pressure line pipe to the outlet connection (1) on the power steering pump. Tighten the power steering pump outlet pipe fitting to 21-35 N·m (16-26 lb ft).
  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Fill the fluid reservoir with power steering fluid.
  16. Inspect for leaks. If there are leaks, correct the cause of the leaks and bleed system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.
