Power Steering Hoses Replacement Vacuum Brake Booster

Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.

  2. Object Number: 295677  Size: SH
  3. Remove the evaporator pipe-to-shroud retaining bolts.
  4. Position the evaporator pipe rearward.
  5. Remove the coolant surge tank. Refer to Surge Tank (Diesel) Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  6. Remove the hoses.
  7. Remove the upper radiator hose from the radiator. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  8. Remove the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister and bracket. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Replacement in Engine Controls.
  9. Remove the windshield washer solvent container. Refer to Washer Solvent Container and Pump Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems.
  10. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  12. Remove the front cover shield.
  13. Remove the bolts from the lower radiator shroud.
  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Disconnect the upper and the lower transmission cooler lines from the radiator. Refer to Oil Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement or Oil Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement in Automatic Transmission.
  16. Disconnect the lower radiator hose from the radiator. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  17. Disconnect the upper and the lower oil cooler lines from the radiator. Refer to Engine Oil Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  18. Remove the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  19. Remove the lower radiator shroud. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  20. Remove the grille. Refer to Radiator Grille Replacement in Body Front End.

  22. Disconnect the return hose from the cooler line.

  23. Object Number: 293960  Size: SH
  24. Disconnect the return hose from the power steering pump.
  25. Remove the power steering pump return hose from the vehicle.

  26. Object Number: 293963  Size: SH
  27. Disconnect the power steering gear pressure line at the power steering gear.
  28. Disconnect the pressure line at the power steering pump.
  29. Remove the power steering pressure line from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 293963  Size: SH
  1. Install the power steering pressure line.
  2. Connect the pressure line at the power steering pump.
  3. Attach the hose to the outlet pipe with a new crimp band and a suitable crimping tool.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Connect the power steering gear pressure line at the power steering gear.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the pressure line fitting to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  7. Install the power steering pump return hose.
  8. Connect the return hose to the power steering pump.

  9. Object Number: 293957  Size: SH
  10. Connect the return hose to the cooler line.
  11. Install the grille. Refer to Radiator Grille Replacement in Body Front End.
  12. Install the lower radiator shroud.
  13. Do not install the bolts.

  14. Install the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  15. Connect the upper and the lower oil cooler lines to the radiator. Refer to Engine Oil Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  16. Connect the lower radiator hose to the radiator. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  17. Connect the upper and the lower transmission cooler lines to the radiator. Refer to Oil Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement or Oil Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement in Automatic Transmission.
  18. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  19. Install the lower radiator shroud bolts. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement in Engine Cooling.

  21. Install the front cover shield.
  22. Lower the vehicle.
  23. Install the windshield washer solvent container. Refer to Washer Solvent Container and Pump Replacement in Windshield Wiper/Washer System.
  24. Install the evaporative emissions canister and the bracket. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Replacement in Engine Controls.
  25. Install the upper radiator hose to the radiator. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  26. Install the coolant surge tank. Refer to Surge Tank (Diesel) Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  27. Install the coolant surge tank hoses.

  29. Reposition the evaporator pipe.
  30. Install the bolts.
  31. Refill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  32. Refill the automatic transmission fluid.
  33. Inspect the automatic transmission fluid.
  34. Refill the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System.

Power Steering Hoses Replacement Hydraulic Brake Booster

Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.

  2. Object Number: 295677  Size: SH
  3. Remove the evaporator pipe-to-shroud retaining bolts.
  4. Position the evaporator pipe rearward.
  5. Remove the coolant surge tank. Refer to Surge Tank (Diesel) Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  6. Remove the coolant surge tank hoses.
  7. Remove the upper radiator hose from the radiator. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  8. Remove the evaporative emissions canister and bracket. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Replacement in Engine Controls.
  9. Remove the windshield washer solvent container. Refer to Washer Solvent Container and Pump Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems.
  10. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  12. Remove the front cover shield.
  13. Remove the bolts from the lower radiator shroud.
  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Disconnect the upper and the lower transmission cooler lines from the radiator. Refer to Oil Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement or Oil Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement in Automatic Transmission.
  16. Disconnect the lower radiator hose from the radiator. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  17. Disconnect the upper and the lower oil cooler lines from the radiator. Refer to Engine Oil Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  18. Remove the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  19. Remove the lower radiator shroud. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  20. Remove the grille. Refer to Radiator Grille Replacement in Body Front End.

  22. Remove the lines from the supporting bracket.

  23. Object Number: 293957  Size: SH
  24. Disconnect the return hose from the cooler line.

  25. Object Number: 293976  Size: SH
  26. Disconnect the return hose from the power steering pump.
  27. Remove the power steering pump return hose from the vehicle.

  28. Object Number: 293972  Size: SH
  29. Disconnect the power steering gear pressure line at the power steering gear.
  30. Disconnect the pressure line at the hydraulic brake booster.
  31. Remove the power steering pressure line from the vehicle.

  32. Object Number: 293974  Size: SH
  33. Disconnect the return line at the brake booster.
  34. Disconnect the return line at the power steering pump.
  35. Remove the brake booster return line from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 293974  Size: SH
  1. Install the brake booster return line into the vehicle.
  2. Connect the return line at the power steering pump.
  3. Connect the return line at the brake booster.

  4. Object Number: 293972  Size: SH
  5. Install the power steering pressure line into the vehicle.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener.   7. Connect the power steering gear pressure line at the power steering gear.
  8. Tighten

        • Tighten the pressure line fitting to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).
        • Tighten the brake booster outlet pipe fitting to 35  N·m (26 lb ft).

  9. Install the power steering pump return hose into the vehicle.
  10. Connect the return hose to the power steering pump.

  12. Connect the return hose to the cooler line.

  13. Object Number: 294011  Size: SH
  14. Install the bracket in order to hold the lines in place.
  15. Install the grille. Refer to Radiator Grille Replacement in Body Front End.
  16. Install the lower radiator shroud.
  17. Do not install the bolts.

  18. Install the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  19. Connect the upper and the lower oil cooler lines to the radiator. Refer to Engine Oil Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  20. Connect the lower radiator hose to the radiator. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  21. Connect the upper and the lower transmission cooler lines to the radiator. Refer to Oil Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement or Oil Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement in Automatic Transmission.
  22. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  23. Install the lower radiator shroud bolts. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement in Engine Cooling.

  24. Object Number: 293951  Size: SH
  25. Install the front cover shield
  26. Lower the vehicle.
  27. Install the windshield washer solvent container. Refer to Washer Solvent Container and Pump Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems.
  28. Install the evaporative emissions canister and bracket. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Replacement in Engine Controls.
  29. Install the upper radiator hose to the radiator. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  30. Install the coolant surge tank. Refer to Surge Tank (Diesel) Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  31. Install the coolant surge tank hoses.

  32. Object Number: 295677  Size: SH
  33. Reposition the evaporator pipe and install the bolts.
  34. Refill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  35. Refill the automatic transmission fluid.
  36. Inspect the automatic transmission fluid.
  37. Refill the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System.
