Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.

  3. Object Number: 276591  Size: SH
  4. Loosen the clamps.
  5. Disconnect the heater core hoses from the heater core.
  6. Cap the ends of the heater core hoses.
  7. Rotate the instrument panel rearward. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement in Instrument Panel Console and Gauges.

  9. Remove the heater core case screws.
  10. Remove the cover from the heater core case.

  11. Object Number: 276608  Size: SH
  12. Remove the coolant tube bracket screws.
  13. Remove the bracket from the coolant tubes.
  14. Remove the screws.
  15. Remove the heater core retaining clips.
  16. Remove the heater core from the heater core case.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the heater core to the heater core case using the following components:
  2. • The retaining clips
    • The screws

  3. Install the bracket to the coolant tubes with the screws.

  4. Object Number: 276607  Size: SH
  5. Install the cover to the case with the screws.
  6. Roll the instrument panel carrier forward. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement in Instrument Panel, Console and Gauges.

  7. Object Number: 276591  Size: SH
  8. Install the heater hoses to the heater core with the clamps at the cowl.
  9. Service the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
