Removal Procedure
  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
  2. Remove the evaporator insulator.

    3. Object Number: 282340 Size: SH
  3. Remove the cap nuts from the cowl heat shield.
  4. Move the cowl heat shield to provide clearance.

    5. Object Number: 276591 Size: SH
  5. Loosen the heater hose clamps.
  6. Remove the heater core hoses.

    7. Object Number: 276578 Size: SH
  7. Remove the following components that secure the evaporator case to the cowl:
    8. • The screw
    • The studs
    • The nuts
  8. Remove the evaporator case assembly from the vehicle.

    9. Object Number: 290816 Size: SH
  9. Remove the screws.
  10. Separate the evaporator case sections.
  11. Remove the evaporator core from the case.

    12. Object Number: 276584 Size: SH
  12. Remove the pushpins.
  13. Remove the screen from the evaporator core.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 276584 Size: SH
  1. Install the screen onto the evaporator core.

    2. Object Number: 290816 Size: SH
  2. Install the evaporator core into the case.
  3. Assemble the evaporator case sections.
  4. Install the screws.

    5. Object Number: 276578 Size: SH
  5. Install the bolts.
  6. Install the evaporator case assembly to the cowl.
  7. Install the screw.

    8. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 4.5 N·m (40 lb in).

  8. Install the nuts.

    9. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 4.5 N·m (40 lb in).

  9. Install the studs.

    10. Tighten
    Tighten the studs to 4.5 N·m (40 lb in).


    Object Number: 282340 Size: SH
  10. Replace the heat shield to the original position against the cowl.
  11. Install the cap screws.

    12. Object Number: 276591 Size: SH
  12. Install the heater core hoses and the heater core hose clamps.
  13. Install the evaporator insulator.
  14. Connect the negative battery cable.

    15. Tighten
    Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
