Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge Always Hot Gasoline

  1. With the ignition OFF and the engine cold, disconnect the connector at the engine coolant temperature sender.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to RUN.

Does the temperature gauge indicate that the engine is cold (at or below 100°F)?

Go to Step 2

Replace the coolant temperature sender.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

  1. Locate and repair the short to ground in the CKT 35 (DK GRN) wire between the coolant temperature sender and the instrument cluster.
  2. If the wire is good, replace the instrument cluster.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

  1. Locate and repair the short to ground in the CKT 35 (DK GRN) wire between the coolant temperature sender and the instrument cluster.
  2. If the wire is good, replace the instrument cluster.
