  1. Disconnect the connector at the instrument cluster.
  2. Disconnect connector C4 at the Vehicle Control Module (VCM).
  3. Connect a test lamp between instrument cluster connector cavity 10 and ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 2

Locate and repair the short to ground in the CKT 389 (DK GRN) wire between the instrument cluster and the VCM.

Is the repair complete?

--

System OK

Connect a test lamp between instrument cluster connector cavity 10 and the VCM connector C4 cavity 4.

Does the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

Replace the instrument cluster.

Is the repair complete?

--

System OK

Locate and repair the open in the CKT 389 (DK GRN) wire between the instrument cluster and the VCM.

Is the repair complete?

--

System OK

Is the repair complete?

Connect a test lamp between instrument cluster connector cavity 10 and the VSS buffer connector cavity 15.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 4

Replace the instrument cluster.

Locate and repair the open in the CKT 389 (DK GRN) wire between the instrument cluster and the VSS buffer.
