Cruise Control Does Not Resume, Accel, Tap Up or Down Gasoline

  1. Disconnect the connector at the cruise control module.
  2. Disconnect C266 at the steering column.
  3. Connect a self-powered test lamp between the cruise control module cavity C and C266 pin A15, CKT 87 (GRY/BLK).

Does the test lamp light?

Locate and repair the open in CKT 87 (GRY/BLK) between C266 and the cruise control module.

Are the repairs complete?

--

System OK

  1. Turn the cruise control switch to the ON position.
  2. Connect a self-powered test lamp between C266 cavity A13, CKT 41 (BRN) and cavity A15, CKT 87 (GRY/BLK).
  3. Turn the cruise control switch to the RESUME/ACCEL position.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

Replace the cruise control module.

Is the repair complete?

--

System OK

--

  1. Locate and repair the open in CKT 87 (GRY/BLK) in the steering column.
  2. If the wire is good, replace the cruise control switch.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Disconnect C266 at the steering column.
  2. Connect a self-powered test lamp between C266 cavity A13, CKT 41 (BRN) and cavity A15, CKT 87 (GRY/BLK).
  3. Turn the cruise control switch to the RESUME/ACCEL position.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Locate and repair the open in CKT 87 (GRY/BLK) in the steering column.
  2. If the wire is good, replace the cruise control switch.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Disconnect connector C1 at the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
  2. Connect a self-powered test lamp between the PCM connector C1 cavity D10 and C266 cavity A15, CKT 87 (GRY/BLK).

Does the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

Replace the PCM.

Is the repair complete?

--

System OK

Locate and repair the open in CKT 87 (GRY/BLK) between C266 and the PCM.
