SOME OWNERS MAY COMMENT THAT THE REAR SEAT RATTLES/ROCKS FORE AND AFT ON SEAT PIVOT POINT.
FREE MOTION IN THE SEAT SUPPORT ASSEMBLY (FIGURE 1).
PLACE A SHIM BETWEEN THE SEAT SUPPORT LEVER AND SEAT SUPPORT HOUSING FLANGE TO ELIMINATE THE FREE MOTION AT THE SEAT PIVOT (FIGURE 2). A "U"- CLIP/NUT (P/N 11516150) MAY BE USED AS A SHIM BY CLIPPING THE "U" PORTION OF THE NUT OVER THE EDGE OF THE SEAT SUPPORT HOUSING FLANGE (FIGURE 2). THE NUT PORTION OF THE CLIP MUST BE POSITIONED TO CONTACT THE SEAT SUPPORT LEVER.
THE AMOUNT OF FREE MOTION PRESENT VARIES FROM SEAT TO SEAT. IF AFTER INSTALLING THE CLIPS THE SEAT BECOMES DIFFICULT TO LATCH, IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO REMOVE SOME OF THE MATERIAL AT THE NUT PORTION OF THE CLIP (FIGURE 3). FOR MOST SEATS A REDUCTION OF 4MM WILL BE SUFFICIENT.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1) OBTAIN TWO "U"- CLIPS (P/N 11516150). REMOVE APPROXIMATELY 4MM OF MATERIAL FROM THE BARREL OR NUT PORTION OF THE CLIP (FIGURE 3). 2) FOLD REAR SEAT BOTTOM UP. 3) REMOVE STORAGE CONTAINERS AT BOTH SIDES OF THE SEAT. 4) REACH INTO THE STORAGE CONTAINER OPENING ON THE RIGHT SIDE AND BY FEEL LOCATE THE SEAT SUPPORT HOUSING FLANGE AND SEAT SUPPORT LEVER (FIGURE 2). INSTALL A "U" CLIP SHIM ON THE HOUSING FLANGE AT THE POINT WHERE THE LEVER CONTACTS THE FLANGE. 5) REPEAT THE OPERATION ON THE LEFT SIDE. 6) LOWER SEAT AND CHECK LATCH OPERATION. IF THE LATCH MECHANISM WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY, THE SHIMS MAY BE REMOVED AND MORE MATERIAL TAKEN FROM THE SAME LOCATION (FIGURE 3). 7) INSTALL STORAGE CONTAINERS.
