Rear Seat Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement Extended Cab
Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear seat from the vehicle. Refer to
Rear Seat Replacement
.
- Release the J-clip on
the rear of the seat cushion and pull back the trim cover far enough to expose
the side bolts (2).
- Remove the cushion side bolts.
- Disconnect the seat pull strap cable (3).
- Remove the cushion from the seat.
- Using a side motion, pull the remainder of the trim cover off
the cushion.
- Separate the foam pad from the cushion frame.
Installation Procedure
- Attach the foam pad onto the cushion.
- Carefully pull the trim cover over the cushion.
- Connect the seat pull
strap cable (3).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Before the cover
is fully pulled over the frame, install the cushion side bolts (2) in order
to attach the seat cushion to the seat.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).
- Pull the trim cover over the remainder of the cushion.
- Attach the J-clip on the rear of the seat cushion.
Ensure proper routing of the seat pull strap cable.
- Install the rear seat into the vehicle. Refer to

Rear Seat Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement 60/40 Split
Removal Procedure
- Remove the seat latch cover.
- Remove all of the J-clips.
- Disconnect the rear heater connector, if equipped.
- Release the hook and the loop strips retaining the seat cushion
cover to the foam pad (2).
- Remove the seat cushion cover from the foam pad (2).
Installation Procedure
- Install the seat cushion cover (1) to the foam pad (2).
- Engage the hook and the loop strips retaining the seat cushion
cover to the foam pad.
- Connect the rear heater connector, if equipped.
- Install all of the J-clips.
- Install the seat latch cover.
Rear Seat Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement Suburban/Yukon XL 40/40 Bucket
Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear passenger seat from the vehicle. Refer to
Rear Seat Replacement
.
- Remove the rear passenger seat riser.
- Remove the seat back from the seat cushion. Refer to
Rear Seat Back Replacement
.
- Remove the hog rings from the rear edge of the seat cushion cover
(3).
- Remove the seat belt buckles. Refer to
Seat Belt Buckle and Latch Replacement - Rear
.
- Remove all the remaining hog rings retaining the seat cushion
cover (3) to the seat cushion frame (8).
- Release the hook and the loop strips retaining the seat cushion
cover to the foam pad (4).
- Remove the seat cushion cover from the foam pad.
Installation Procedure
- Install the seat cushion cover (8) to the foam pad (7).
- Engage the hook and the loop strips retaining the seat cushion cover
(3) to the foam pad (4).
- Install the seat buckles. Refer to

- Install the hog rings in order to retain the seat cushion cover
to the seat cushion frame (8).
- Install the seat back to the seat cushion. Refer to
Rear Seat Back Replacement

- Install the rear passenger seat risers.
- Install the rear passenger seat to the vehicle. Refer to
Rear Seat Replacement
.
Rear Seat Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement Extended Cab w/ 4th Door
Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear seat. Refer to

- Release the J clip on
