Engine Block Plug Removal C/K/G/C3500HD

Tools Required

J 41712 Oil Pressure Sending Unit Socket


    Object Number: 471089  Size: SH
  1. Remove the oil pressure switch using J 41712 .

  2. Object Number: 471118  Size: SH

    Important: Use care not to damage the camshaft bearings.

  3. Remove the camshaft rear bearing hole plug:
  4. 2.1. Obtain a suitable self-threading screw.
    2.2. Drill a hole into the plug.
    2.3. Install the self-threading screw.
    2.4. Pull on the plug until it has left the bore.
    2.5. An alternate method to remove the plug would be to insert a long shaft or bar through the front of the engine and drive the plug from the bore.

  5. Remove the left side knock sensor shield bolts.
  6. Remove the left side knock sensor shield.

  7. Object Number: 471081  Size: SH
  8. Remove the left side knock sensor.

  9. Object Number: 471076  Size: SH
  10. Remove the right side knock sensor.

  11. Object Number: 471126  Size: SH
  12. Remove the engine block oil cooler hose fittings.

  13. Object Number: 471134  Size: SH
  14. Remove the rear oil gallery plugs.

  15. Object Number: 471133  Size: SH
  16. Remove the front oil gallery plugs.

  17. Object Number: 471138  Size: SH
  18. Remove the left side oil gallery plugs.

  19. Object Number: 471137  Size: SH
  20. Remove the top oil gallery plugs.

  21. Object Number: 635657  Size: SH
  22. Remove the engine coolant hole plug.

  23. Object Number: 635660  Size: SH
  24. Remove the engine block heater, if equipped.

  1. Remove the oil pressure switch using J 41712 .

  2. Object Number: 471118  Size: SH

    Important: Use care not to damage the camshaft bearings.

  3. Remove the camshaft rear bearing hole plug:
  4. 2.1. Obtain a suitable self-threading screw.
    2.2. Drill a hole into the plug.
    2.3. Install the self-threading screw.
    2.4. Pull on the plug until it has left the bore.

  6. Remove the left side knock sensor shield.

  12. Remove the engine block oil cooler hose fittings.

  14. Remove the rear oil gallery plugs.

  16. Remove the front oil gallery plugs.

  17. Object Number: 471138  Size: SH
  18. Remove the left side oil gallery plugs.

  19. Object Number: 471137  Size: SH
  20. Remove the top oil gallery plugs.

  21. Object Number: 635657  Size: SH
  22. Remove the engine coolant hole plug.

  23. Object Number: 635660  Size: SH
  24. Remove the engine block heater, if equipped.
