The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some customers may experience one or all of the following concerns at times.
- Battery lamp remains on for 5-60 seconds after the vehicle is started
- Battery lamp remains on for 5-60 seconds after the vehicle is shut off.
- DTC U1000 set in the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC).
- Easy exit seats are inoperative when shutting off the vehicle and removing the key from the ignition.
Recommendation/Instructions:
If any of the above concerns occur, inspect for the installation of an aftermarket component such as a Headrest DVD player or any other aftermarket item that requires a 12 volt feed. Most aftermarket companies will install the power feed at the mid-buss
electrical center.
Note: The most common circuit that the aftermarket installers will tap into is circuit 4 from the ignition switch or any of the 4 fuses (seo accy, ws wiper, tbc accy, r wiper) or circuits that the 4 fuses feed. (See Document Id: 1238549)
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
