DTC Descriptor

DTC P061A: Control Module Torque Performance

DTC P061B: Control Module Torque Calculation Performance

Circuit/System Description

This diagnostic applies to internal microprocessor integrity conditions within the hybrid powertrain control module (HPCM). The HPCM monitors its ability to read and write to the memory. The HPCM processor monitors the data to verify that the indicated torque calculation is correct. The HPCM is located within the drive motor generator power inverter module (PIM) and is not serviceable separately.

Conditions for Running the DTC

P061A

    • Ignition voltage is 8-18 volts.
    • Regenerative braking torque is greater than 0 N·m.

P061B

    • Ignition voltage is 8-18 volts.
    • Any output or brake torque is present.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

P061A

The control module has detected the internal software calculation for regenerative braking torque has an error of greater than 100 N·m.

P061B

The control module has detected an internal torque calculation error.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • DTCs P061A and P061B are Type A DTCs.
    • The HPCM commands the battery energy control module (BECM) to open the high voltage contactor relays.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

DTCs P061A and P061B are Type A DTCs.

Circuit/System Verification

  1. Clear the DTC information.
  2. Turn the ignition OFF for 1 minute.
  3. Ignition ON, start and drive the vehicle.
  4. Retest for DTCs P061A and P061B.

Circuit/System Testing

Program the PIM with the latest software version and recheck for DTCs.

If the DTC resets after programming or if the PIM already contains the latest software version, replace the PIM.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
