The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Some customers may have a concern of a transmission fluid leak at the propshaft slip yoke welch plug. This condition may be mistaken for a leak from the transmission output shaft seal. If necessary use automatic transmission fluid dye to help isolate the source of the leak. When diagnosing this concern, be sure to thoroughly clean the area and road test the vehicle to verify the source of the leak.
If the fluid leak is isolated to the slip yoke welch plug, replace the complete prop shaft assembly as the slip yoke is not serviced separately.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
