Exhaust Manifold Replacement Left Side

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cables. Refer to

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  2. Raise the vehicle.
  3. Support the vehicle with safety stands.
  4. Remove the glow plugs. Refer to Engine Controls.
  5. Remove the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust System.

  6. Object Number: 60243  Size: SH
  7. Remove the exhaust manifold bolts.
  8. Remove the exhaust manifold from under the vehicle.
  9. Clean the sealing surfaces on the exhaust manifold and cylinder head.
  10. Clean the threads on the exhaust manifold bolts.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 60245  Size: SH
  1. Install the exhaust manifold from under the vehicle.
  2. Install the exhaust manifold bolts.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 35 N·m (36 lb ft). Refer to

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold.
  5. Lower the vehicle.
  6. Install the glow plugs.
  7. Connect the negative battery cables.

Removal Procedure

  2. Remove the air cleaner box and intake duct.
  3. Raise the vehicle.
  4. Support the vehicle with safety stands.
  5. Remove the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust System.
  6. Remove the glow plug wires. Refer to Engine Controls.
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Remove the turbocharger assembly. Refer to Turbocharger.
  9. Remove the glow plugs and shields. Refer to Engine Controls.

  11. Remove the exhaust manifold bolts.
  12. Remove the exhaust manifold.
  13. Clean the following items:
  14. • The sealing surfaces on the exhaust manifold and the cylinder head
    • The threads on the exhaust manifold bolts

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 60245  Size: SH
  1. Install the exhaust manifold.
  2. Install the exhaust manifold bolts.

    Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   3. Install glow plugs and shields.
  4. Install the turbocharger assembly.
  5. Raise the vehicle.
  6. Support the vehicle with safety stands.
  7. Install the glow plug wires.
  8. Install the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Install the air cleaner box and intake duct.
  11. Connect the negative battery cables.
