If your vehicle has front and rear bench seats, someone can sit in the center positions.

When you sit in the center seating position in the second row you have a lap-shoulder belt which is similar to the belt in the rear outside seating positions. To learn how to wear this belt see "Lap-Shoulder Belt" under Rear Seat Passengers .

Lap Belt

When you sit in a center seating position, other than in the second row, you have a lap belt.

Object Number: 1437649 Size: B3

A lap safety belt does not have a retractor. To make the belt longer, tilt the latch plate and pull it along the belt.

Object Number: 1437650 Size: B3

To make the belt shorter, pull its free end as shown until the belt is snug.

Buckle, position and release it the same way as the lap part of a lap-shoulder belt. If the belt is not long enough, see Safety Belt Extender .

Make sure the release button on the buckle is positioned so you would be able to unbuckle the safety belt quickly if you ever had to.
