The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some customers may comment of a Service Traction Control and/or Service Stabilitrak message displayed on the DIC along with DTC's C0196 and/or U2142 stored in the EBCM. This concern could be very intermittent and difficult to diagnose the root cause.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Reports of the yaw/lateral sensor circuits being chaffed at the parking brake pedal assembly have been received (see Pictures below). To correct this concern, repair any chaffed circuits and then secure the harness away from the parking brake pedal assembly to prevent a repeat occurrence.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
